Background

Stephen Harris qualified as a chartered accountant in 1975, with Touche Ross & Co (now Deloitte) in Manchester.

Between 1972 and 1979 he obtained a wide range of experience in audit, accountancy and taxation. This was in the aerospace, nuclear power, electronics, banking and insurance sectors, and also in engineering companies of various sizes and major garage groups. 

Additional assignments at that time included a charity, a unit trust company and various businesses with incomplete accounting records. He also had involvement in investigations for Stock Exchange purposes, company acquisitions and sundry special investigations.

Since 1979 he has specialised in forensic accountancy. After retiring from partnership in another firm, Stephen established his own practice in 1994.

"Areas of Work" summarises the variety of matters in which Stephen Harris has been able to provide assistance to Solicitors. The vast majority of cases settle out of Court, but he has given evidence on eight occasions since 1989. He has appeared for many years in several directories of expert witnesses. He became a member of the Academy of Experts in 1993 and a founding member in 1996 of the Expert Witness Institute. He also received training as a single joint expert (SJE) from Bond Solon in 1999.
